My wife and I went to the Oban area in late August. It was our first trip to Scotland, and we were looking for an area of natural beauty to chill out for a few days.
The location of this B&B is quite great. It's about 30 min south of Oban on a hill overlooking Loch Melfort. Behind the property is a single track road that brings you into a lovely rugged combination of wilderness and forrestry land, so you can litterly walk out the door of the B&B for a 4-5 hour walk.
The accomodation was just fair, to be honest. First, the rooms are not en-suite. I completely forgot to check this before booking, so we were a bit surprised (and my wife not thrilled) at the prospect of sharing a bathroom. It's fine if everyone is courtious, but that's not a guarantee I'm afraid (put down the toilet seat please).
Also, we had to ask for our towels to be refreshed after three days (we stayed for 5), and the bed was never made nor linen changed.
On the plus side, the breakfast is very good. You are seated at a big table with the other guest, but this wasn't a big deal and made for some good conversations.
Also, the garden, to which guests have access, is very nice.
All in all, the place worked mostly because we lucked out with great weather and weren't there very much. If I had it to do over, I would book an en-suite room (at a different B&B).
