A small luxury hotel with a family atmosphere and a genuine attitude that good friendly service is important.
I think we had the best room in the house for our anniversary weekend, with a lovely view across the fields to the church and the largest bed I have ever seen in a sleigh-style with a mattress 3 feet deep.
Food was excellent, maybe the best feature, from an extensive and well-sourced breakfast to a flawless evening menu, with perhaps the best lamb I have ever tasted.
We also ate at the pub in the village (same ownership as the hotel) one evening. Again it has an extensive menu with a lot of seafood options, all excellent quality and well-presented.
One drawback was the noise at 8am on Sunday morning, as our room was directly over the dining room and staff started early to move all the tables around for at least an hour in preparation for Sunday lunch.
The hotel's brochure lets it down badly as well, nice pictures, but too many silly mistakes.
Swimming pool was good, but very small changing rooms.
We would recommend this hotel highly to almost anyone except those with little mobility - there are lots of stairs!
