An amazing value at 28 euros (the businessman's lunch, available monday through friday) this lovely place with its serene interior is a welcome stop after the morning spent at the Roman Temples in Piazza Armenina and the long drive it entailed and the very long walk up the stairs to the cathedral in Caltigironde! The meal began with the best selection of bread we had in sicily, including homemade breadsticks, lovely little bruschetta, tiny olive rolls, etc. and gorgeously fragrant green olive oil. The chef's amuse bouche was a stunningly vibrant tiny cup of fresh asparagus soup, with asparagus tip and homemade ricotta. I would love the recipe and the soup represented the excellence of sicilian products as well as sicilian cooking. This was followed by stuffed quail and homemade pasta with duck ragout and the meal completed by a chocolate and fresh raspberry desert that made the grown-ups at the table consider licking their plates. Wines were reasonable, service was excellent, and there was no question in our minds or palates that this restaurant represents a labor of love and a true commitment to presenting Sicilian cuisine at its most innovative.
