We loved this chateau.
Our room was in the main building. It was clean and large and decorated in a vintage pattern fabric, with a small plasma TV and antique furniture. There was a lot of place to keep our clothes. The bathroom was large too, in pink marble, and the toilet was separate as French ones usually are.
Sevice was impecable, with evening turndows and towel changes twice a day.
The staff was helpful and friendly, specially Dominic, who was extremely nice.
Breakfast was ok.
We can't comment on the restaurant as we ate our meals in Tours.

“Utterly disappointing”

Driving into Montbazon started to ring alarm bells. We had driven down from Rheims and coming into Montbazon with its many retail-outlets lining the road was offputting. Nevertheless, when we finally reached the hotel we were excited to be there as the main reception building looked very nice (although staff were snooty in complete contrast to the fantastic Relais & Chateaux property that we had just travelled from).

When we saw our room I was not at all happy and has to be the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. We dubbed the hotel "the marmalade dream" (or nightmare) as the whole room was a sickly orange in colour, the toilet and bathroom were damp, dirty and scummy and I could imagine more luxiourous bedsits...

I admit that the main building for dinner was very nice but the rooms were just shameful, particularly for the price as this was not a "budget" stay.

Save your cash and give this one a miss...

A lovely hotel though very expensive, staff were very helpful and were very friendly. Arrived 9pm after trip from Dordogne and staff got us into restaurant straight away. A beautiful dining room from a bygone age with guests dressed for dinner. Food very good and service attentive. Room no 37 (Euro 420 ) could have been better, sneaked in to no 30 that looked better! Breakfast was good but not a wonderful choice. Would definitely return and very central for Chateaux and quite easy to get to Tours which is worth visiting too.

“Consider staying but do NOT eat here”

Chateau d'Artigny

We just spent two nights at the Chateau. The property is lovely, the rooms ok. Unique in that the bathroom was up a flight of stairs. The room was clean and I felt like I was in another world (which was good!) Pool area was nice and clean. Unfortunately it was not the best weather so we couldn't use it! Staff was polite but NOT overly helpful. We liked sitting in the bar/library and having a drink (service was great in there, nice suggestions on wine). My big problem with the place was the restaurant. HORRIBLE, over priced place. Our party of four travels extensively. We are not timid eaters but I draw the line at flattened raw shrimp no matter what sauce they pour on it. We were completely disappointed in the quality and preparation of the food not to mention the price was out of this world. DO NOT EAT HERE but consider staying here.

This was an extremely disappointing experience. The property and the common rooms are beautiful; the guest rooms are a disaster. They are old, rundown, and are not clean. There is absolutely nothing luxurious about the accomodations. I asked to see other rooms and they were as equally gross. This place is completed overrated. The staff is very rude. There are much better choices in this region.
