We had researched the best restaurants before leaving the UK, and we are so happy that we managed to find Casa Grec as it wasn't easy! ( from the main square find the cigarette kiosk and follow the narrow road in the corner, then turn right and you will see it on the right hand side). From the moment we arrived the Canadian lady owner made us welcome as she did all her customers, she explained she had bought the restaurant 16 years ago, and it was clear to see that she run the place to a very high standard. Our waiter was also very pleasant, the service was great and ideal for a romantic evening. As others have already said the restaurant is very quirky, but very stylishly done, as it gets dark candles are lit, and this adds to the ambiance.
Each evening started with a ricotta dip which was lovely, we tended to have the same dishes each time we went, normally a prawn linguine, prawn provencale, or the chefs special which was rice with chicken, big prawns and mushrooms in a not too over powering Pernod sauce. We couldn't choose a favourite between these. I wanted to try Haloumi and choose a starter which included figs snd walnuts in a orange, balsamic sauce, it was huge, and so yummy I asked the owner for the recipe which she kindly gave me. For dessert the choice was limited, creme brûlée or panacotta, but the creme brûlée was the best my other half had ever had.
I feel that everyone should try Casa Grec at least once during their holiday, if you don't you really will be missing out on the best eating experience on the island.
