As a group of 8 friends, we have a long weekend of walking every October, and The Plough at Cadsden must be one of our very best. It's one of the few genuine pubs we could find in the Chilterns with 4 double bedded rooms and good walking, and it's right on a beautiful part of the Ridgeway, so the walking is as good as it gets.
It's got a lively pub atmosphere and a good selection of real ales, although there was limited sitting space inside if you weren't eating. But if you were eating, the food was excellent, with a wide choice, and plenty of it to satisfy hungry walkers. The staff were superb the whole time, and made us very welcome. We had really nice large rooms, beautifully presented, and all with en-suite. Ours was a little warm, but there's no traffic for miles, so you can open the windows.
The Chilterns isn't the cheapest place to be, but well worth paying for such a perfect location if you like walking. Heartily recommended.
