The hotel is located right on the main road from the Fussen, Germany to Reutte, Austria, but if you aren’t paying attention you could miss it. The staff was very friendly, but they did not speak English. That made communication a little difficult, but not impossible with a limited knowledge of German. Nice, clean, quiet, spacious room. The food was very good - a typical buffet breakfast.

In July we stayed one night at Gastof zum Schwanen. Great place! Pflach is right on the border, between Reutte, Austria, and Fussen, Germany, so easy access to make local attractions (including only about 15 minutes to Castle Neuschwanstein). The stay was wonderful, it's a small place right on the main road through down. There are pleasant walking paths from the hotel back into the nearby woods (Alps foothills), the hotel restaurant is delicious, and the staff warm and friendly.

I was sad that our travel schedule dictated only a one night stay. Tirol, Austria is so far from home I don't know if we will ever be back, but if so, for sure we will be hoping to stay at zum Schwanen!
