We had a very nice stay at the Princess of Mykonos through Secret Escapes. We stayed at 2 hotels on our stay in Mykonos as we were there for 2 weeks at end of season and I must say I think we picked the right time as the island would have been mad in the summer season.
We moved to the Princess of Mykonos after 5 days at our previous hotel. The first night they could not get us a sea view room, which was part of our deal with Secret Escapes but offered us a bigger room for 1 night which was a fair trade. We were happy to move to our sea view room the next day however as the view is what this hotel is all about. It is spectacular. One of the best views of Mykonos town and the harbours, with Giant cruise ships floating in and out. I know harbour views might sound nasty but this isn't. The harbour is far enough away not to be an annoyance and the cruise ships at night with all their twinkling lights are beautiful.
The pool bar and restaurant all have great views of the bay and many of the rooms do as well. The food and drink we had at the hotel were of the highest quality served up with panache and style. Food is a normal level cost for Mykonos. Eggs at breakfast were perfect every day.
Rooms were typically Greek and my wife loved them as she is a Greek fanatic and is now decorating our house to match. They were very comfortable and clean. The balcony we had offered up lovely sea views and we sat there in the evening watching the cruise ships coming and going and soaking up the sky which is magnificent.
Gregory and Vivienne were exceptional staff and made the stay perfect. They would go out of their way to help and serve all the guests and were very chatty and would impart all sorts of useful local tips. All the staff at the hotel seemed very happy with their roles and that makes a big difference to a guests stay.
The pool is small and cold but this is typical of Mykonos and I love cold pools. Seating round the pool was great with loads of different styles of seats from bean bags to alcoves to chairs and tables although it is limited and can get oversubscribed at times.
We had our own transport but there is a beach at the bottom of the hill with tavern-as and also a bus to Mykonos town.
Overall our stay was excellent and we will pop back here if we are again in Mykonos.
