Given its fame, there is a surprising dearth of proper hospitality and high level amenities on offer in Mykonos.

The Grace, a relative newcomer, steps in to fill that gap. First off, the staff is friendly in a genuine and unpretentious way, proud of their hotel and their role as hosts, and always willing to take that extra step to make our stay more comfortable, relaxing, and memorable. They welcomed us even as we arrived with a manic two year old and a two month old baby and always made us feel relaxed and taken care of. Essential for a wonderful first vacation as a family of four.

Thanks Kosta, Anna, Orsalia, and the rest of the team!!!

Second, there is an amazing array of services packed into this discreetly arranged, contemporary design, boutique hotel. Minivan for complementary guest transport (which we didn't use), garage for our private car, late check-out / early check-in facilities, hotel computer area (and wifi throughout), a serene treatment spa, a gym, designer rooms with excellent bathrooms (complete with Korres products and fantastic bathrobes), outdoor pool with great views adjacent to the signature restaurant and bar, a relaxing lounge room complete with generously comfortable sofas, bean bags, and telescope for viewing the sacred island of Delos or the full moon at night, private jacuzzi on our room terrace, evening turndown service....

We love Mykonos off season, but the Grace makes it much easier for us to contemplate a high season visit. Conveniently located near the main town and the new port (at Aghios Stefanos), but in a very quiet area with great views and a sandy beach just below (known as a "locals" beach even in high season), it is ideal.

Whether off-season or not, for family, friends, or romantic couple getaway, the Grace just made Mykonos even more attractive and we recommend it wholeheartedly. We'll be going again as soon as we can...!!

When my husband and I were planning our honeymoon in Greece, we were told not to miss Myknonos. But after reading many comments about how crowded the main town of Chora can be, and about the 24 hour party atmosphere in the town, we were uncertain as to whether Mykonos was right for our honeymoon. We determined that we didn't want to miss Mykonos altogether, so we just needed to find a hotel that was in a quieter area, but still close to town.

At the time we were planning our trip, Mykonos Grace was not yet open. We heard some rumors about the soon-to-be hotel on this site, and we learned that it was being opened by the same management group that runs Ikies in Santorini. We had already read RAVE reviews about Ikies, and we decided to take a chance on Mykonos Grace even though they did not yet have a website or any photos of the property.

Even though we didn't know quite what to expect, we had very high hopes that this hotel would make our decision to visit Mykonos worth while...and the moment the complimentary Grace shuttle dropped us off at the hotel entrance, we knew we had made the right choice! The hotel architecture keeps with the traditional "sugar cube" style of most of the buildings on the island, but Mykonos Grace also has special touches throughout that make it feel so special and luxurious! Even just the open air lobby is picturesque!

My husband and I are not the type to generally spend much time at a hotel...as we usually fill our days exploring...but after checking into our room and being given a tour of the property, we immediately made the decision to spend the rest of the day relaxing at the Grace. In fact, we found the hotel to be so beautiful and relaxing, that we even called off our plans to visit Delos because we just couldn't pull ourselves away from the quiet library and the serene pool.

The hotel is small (30 some rooms), but honestly it feels much more private than that. The architecture is such that each room seems to be tucked in its own corner. The main floor lounge and the library were always quiet (even though we were there at the height of the busy season). We took several leisurely naps in that library, including one on a massive bean-bag chair that could not have been more comfortable. The pool area, although it got a lot of use, was never crowded, and the lounge chairs were extremely comfortable. And the lunch we enjoyed at the pool-side restaurant was delicious!

We could not have been happier with the location of the hotel. It was perfectly situated above a small, but very nice beach (Agios Stephanos), and was only a five minute drive into the main town of Chora. Even though we stayed in one of the smallest rooms at the hotel, the room felt VERY luxurious and romantic, and we had a fantastic view of the sea and Chora.

On our last afternoon in Mykonos, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the taverna on the beach of Agios Stefanos. In previous days we had rented a car and driven to many of the other beaches on the island, and in the end, we discovered that the beach of Agios Stefanos was one of the nicest on the island.

My husband and I both enjoy photography, and always come home with MANY photos from any trip. But it was not until after we left Mykonos that I realized that over half of the photos we took on the island were of the hotel and its view. Mykonos Grace wasn't just a place to stay, but rather it was an integral part of our experience on the island. We look forward to returning again, and next time we will allow even more time in the schedule to just enjoy the hotel!

“Amazing Grace”

Mykonos Grace

We hadn’t been to Mykonos in more than 15 years, being types who prefer wild, empty beaches to partying 24/7. But when friends proposed we check it out off season together and get out of our rustic rut, we said ‘why not?’ Grace came recommended by English friends who’d seen rave reviews, so we picked it, rather than do a lengthy web search, and October’s lower rates were an added incentive.

The first thing that struck us after the hotel minibus picked us up at the boat and dropped us at the front door was its air of understated elegance. And the second was the wonderful welcome given us by the young women at the reception desk: friendly without being either effusive or obsequious, just naturally polite and unfailingly helpful. We had entered a serene, cheerful building that gave off only pleasant vibes for the whole length of our stay. In fact, all the staff were charming, not just “have a nice day” nice.

I have to take my hat off to the architect/decorator. Through a very creative use of space, they have somehow managed to mirror the winding alleys of the town in the passageways that connect the rooms, terraces and ground floor lounge. The décor is minimalistic but not stark, a soothing blend of whites, creams, greys and grey-blues, that is unobtrusive and restful to the eye, while the furniture is invariably soft and comfortable where you want that, ie on the pool terrace, in the TV/reading room above it and lounge. The restaurant chairs and tables are more severe but there the decor lends a warm light touch, with a giant cup, fork or spoon outlined in grey against the white wall.

But the restaurant was not just to look at. Breakfast was a feast – of different breads, fresh fruit, eggs to order and champagne on the house, on the day of your choice, which I accompanied with superb crepes with strawberry syrup. Dinner on our last night was even more memorable: a salad of prosciutto, slivers of dried fig, and fresh cheese rolled in sesame seeds, followed by what must be the best steak au poivre (4 kinds of peppercorns) I’ve ever tasted (and I have eaten at least a steer’s worth of steaks in several different countries over the years).

Our room was more than comfortable: big bed, mattress just right, selection of poetry and other books in Greek and English in case you’d finished your thriller, a sofa to sprawl on, a flat TV that went unwatched, but what won my heart was our private hot tub/jacuzzi on the balcony. My back was acting up and long soaks morning and night kept me going. I also loved lying in bed or on my chaise longue and watching the cruiseships come in. Huge ships that docked quite near the hotel (and rather put me off going to town to face the crowds).

We spent three days in Mykonos and I have to say that the Grace was the best thing about the island. I found the place too built up, too commercial – don’t forget I first went there in 1963. But I and my husband and friends loved the Grace and would go back any time. There’s a nice, though not spectacular beach below; the taverna next door is just fine (don’t miss the chocolate souffle); and the hotel can book seats on the boat to fascinating Delos, which keeps getting better.

Was there anything less than marvelous? Only the scruffy vacant lot between the hotel and the beach. It’s a bit of an eyesore but easily overlooked. Otherwise, there’s not a thing about the Amazing Grace I would dream of changing.

The Mykonos Grace was the hotel highlight of my honeymoon in Greece and hands down one of the best hotels I've ever had in my life. Three nights at the Grace and we'll never forget it. Why?

The staff - They are incredibly nice and very accommodating. Yes, I'm spending money there but they were totally cool about sending the mini-bus to pick us up at 11pm after we struggled to get ferries to the island because of the wind. We got to the hotel and they had a chilled bottle of champagne in an ice bucket waiting for us. They had a nice card in front of the bucket that really made us feel wanted there at the hotel. Nowhere else, no matter how nice they were, really cared that we were on our honeymoon. I can't say enough about how awesome the staff is, everyone from top to bottom made us feel like we were the most important guests in the hotel

The room - We reserved a double room for two nights and a suite with a jacuzzi for one night. We checked in and since it was into low season (mid-October) they ugraded us to the suite for all three nights. The room is amazing! It has the biggest built-in hot tub I've ever been in and has direct access from the shower so you can go straight from the tub through a little glass door and shower off. The king bed was incredibly comfortable, unlike the mattresses in every other Greek hotel we stayed in. The shower was a shower with room for a band to set-up and play, but it was also a steam room.

The food - When I booked the room I had no idea that a full-on champagne breakfast was part of the charge. What? I ate myself silly and the food was great hotel food.

Read enough yet? I read about this hotel on this site and after deliberating between it and another hotel I went with this because I wanted to sit outside in a jacuzzi and sip wine while the sun was going down. It was a much better experience than that and I'll never forget it. The hotel didn't make the trip, but it sure kicked it up a few notches.
