We stayed at Hoppeter for a week in Dec 2009, for our 20th wedding anniversary, booking nine rooms for 22 people, breakfast and dinner included. The rooms were small and our bathroom did not even have a door, just a bi-fold screen. It also had no fan and the TV remote didn't work. A maid yelled at one of my daughters for taking an extra blanket. The service was terrible, the woman who ran the dining room was clearly overworked, she was there at 7 am and there until 11pm. They turned the lights off in the dining room if they thought we were staying too long. Several rooms were vacated early saving Hoppeter some food expenses but they begrudged our bus driver so much as a cup of coffee that last day. The food was awful, basically cafeteria style food. They gave us what they called a "pack lunch" which amounted to a juice box and a candy bar. The last day, they refused to give anyone a bag to take a bread for lunch, told us to try the bakery around the corner. We should have known when we booked this many rooms three months before Christmas that there was a problem as everything else was booked up. This place won't get much return business. Definitely not recommended. My brother in law felt badly about booking us into this nightmare but he had no way of knowing. It all sounded great and the website looked wonderful. Try the Hotel Romantik over in Uderns. Just down from the church where we got married twenty years ago, and absolutely lovely.
