We have just returned from our trip at Brisas. Stayed in a Ocean view room.
STAFF- eager to please in all restaurants, bars
-animations staff very active with lots of great activities planned. Look outside of main lobby elevators for daily activities
-Chino in gym very helpful and found me a skipping rope
-A sweet young woman from housekeeping had the room done up in a timely fashion each day, usually after lunch
-pool was cleaned and never had leaves or cups etc floating in it
-grounds keepers worked very hard and always polite
-hotel while dated was very clean
-lots of choice at buffet, chicken, fish, ham, etc and lots of other dishes. Shrimp three nights. Omelet and pasta station always open during buffet times
-if you did not like what you had at the buffet you could eat burger and fries or pizza at beach/pool bar
.-we went to the International restaurant (loved the cake they had) Bucanero and Cuban ok
-Did not get reservations at seafood or italian due to lack of availability
-Basically you won't go hungry
BEACH- lovely not like the beaches in Santa Clara but very nice and life guards are present.
-loved the amount of palm trees on the beach but watch your head if a coconut decides to fall while you are laying under it.
- check in was quick. if you book on line make sure you have the hotel voucher and print it off. One other guest arrived without one and even though his name was on the hotel list he was basically given a difficult time at check in. No information was forthcoming one had to pry the information out of them. Language barriers were not the issue. Example. My daughter wanted to use the hospitality room for guest that leave late in the day. Our Air Canada rep informed us of them. When we went down to try to use them my daughter was told "being used" and that was all. I asked where they were and all i got was a had pointing at the hallway and a "there". So I had to question further and it turns out you have to have a key from the front desk and when it is returned another guest can use the room. We never did get to use the room.
-Room keys were always deactivating, many guests were irritated by this. Ours deactivated several times as did our children's
-I only had the key issue and the "hospitality room" issue which were not that big of a problem but I witnessed lots of people with legitimate concerns and observed they were not treated in a manner that reflects good customer service
-I do feel sorry for the people that work at the front desk because they bear the brunt of everyones complaints. That said, an effective manager should be available for them so that guests get some sort of resolution of their problems. Not a "come back later".
Reception is extremely important in the hospitality industry, it reflects the kind of experience a person is going to have in the hotel. Thankfully this is not case here. Everyone was pretty wonderful at helping our family have nice vacation.
I would return only if the price was right!
