Having driven all the way from Amalfi we were in need of finding a place to stay near Ancona airport. All the places that were cheap (we
needed to save after a 5 star hotel!) and recommended in the Lonely Planet were busy (strange at this time of year!). But then I suppose it was 11 pm.
We found one place but it looked overpriced and the receptionist was unfriendly.
So we set off towards Falconara sure that we would find somewhere on the way. It didn't look like a particularly pleasant area as we drove along but after a short while we found a sign for this place.
The guy running the place was friendly if slightly crazy (my girlfriend thought he'd had a few too many chiantis) and helped me find a place to park. The room was cheap at 50 Euros and as we went up
into a smokey smelling corridor we thought we had found a grim little fleapit.
There was load snoring as we approached our room and we had the feeling that we'd found a dodgy place for drop outs.
But when we got to the room it was very clean and pleasant with a nice
bedroom and we actually had a pleasant night's sleep.
It's not somewhere I'd stay for long, but for a cheap stop before flying home why not?
