Home to the four-day Roskilde Festival, arguably the best European rock festival, hilly Roskilde is less than 20 miles from Copenhagen. If hordes of rock stars aren't pillaging the town of 50,000, the excellent Viking ship museum is Roskilde's prime attraction. Featuring five ships discovered at the bottom of the fjord, you can add to the Viking experience by rowing the fjord on an hour-long longboat trip. The town is also famed for its much adapted 12th-century Roskilde Domkirke Cathedral.

The wife and I were bike touring through Denmark in the end of the high season. Came into Roskilde to see Viking Museum (see it!) and said, oh boy, the only hotel open in town is some fancy-pantsy...more

An old worl hotel with charm and an excellent location. The staff was polite. The rooms were small. more

“400 kr (53 euros) without breakfast and they claim is not a hotel price”

If you are traveling alone and do not have /wa t to spend sp much money, this is not your choice. When i arrived there alone, I asked for the cheapest room, a dormitory which costs 125 kr, very nice...more
