Visit the zoo at Living Desert State Park for a glimpse of Chihuahuan Desert wildlife -- everything from mountain lions, buffalo, bears and coyotes to reptiles, prairie dogs and roadrunners. Older hotel that needs some updating. Large room with good amenities. Breakfast ends at 9:00. O.K. experience, but not a good value for the price. more

The Comfort Inn Carlsbad is an ok place to stay while venturing to nearby parks and other outdoor recreation opportunities. Sadly, the hotel appears nicer from the outside than it is on the inside. ...more
