Kaiteriteri beach is basically 2 beaches split in half by a small estuary inlet and a headland. The 2 beaches are quite different. The southerly part, or 'Little Kaiteriteri" is remoter acess therefore quieter and has a few tiny pockets of shade, it also has a few more waves although they are quite small. the northerly part is in front of a motor camping park and by the road through Kaiteriteri, so is much busier, it's also more sheltered water so boats moor here. The very furthest end is nicest, where the sand is powder, and the water is sheltered by the northern headland. if you have kids then the estuary inlet is brilliant. its vey shallow and the 'river bed' is only 1-2 mtrs wide, when the tide is out it's basically another bach, but does get busy. There is a deeper pool at the road bridge and upstream of the road is great kayaking. This whole area is perfect for families with small children. There re other beaches nearby, Breakers Beach at the far end of Kaiteriteri is lovely and the best of these 3.
