You likely head to Paget for rest and relaxation and not Granny’s craft fair, but if you do want to venture away from your hotel and enjoy some festival action, there are a few to choose from, either in Paget itself or within a short bus or scooter ride.
Two such festivals are held in Hamilton, just a short jaunt from its sister city, Paget. First is Harbour Nights, which is held every Wednesday night during the summer months. While enjoying the sea air and cool evening breezes, you can take in a little shopping (local vendors sell their handiwork) and a little eating (as there are many Bermuda authentic goodies to choose from). You can enjoy live entertainment and – best of all – stores stay open late so you can do some shopping while you enjoy a Bermuda Harbour Night.
Also in Hamilton is the Bermuda International Film Festival. It’s held in March of year year, since 1997, and celebrates international filmmakers and independent films. There is a World Cinema Showcase, which features films that have acahieved some level of accaim, and there’s even some activities for children.
If you’re visiting Paget in December, check out the Homegrown Alternatives fair. This is a shopping event that’s held to highlight and celebrate the local artisans around Bermuda. Since it’s held early in December, this would be a great way to pick up some interesting and unique holiday gifts!
