Diwa Dive Dominican Republic Padi dive center

Have just returned from a week in the Domincan. The hotel felt a bit like Butlins with sun, and the reps are not interested in anything that they dont make commision on. so it was a real pleasure to find something out of the resort. Have been diving for years all over the world and have experienced everything from fantastic to oh  god im going to die. This center comes in the former rather than the latter. The rep they have in the Puerto Platter shopping Plaza next to the Blue Bay in was great. Very helpful and knowledgable whilst also not putting any pressure on. More to the point he gave more help with other activities that he didnt earn any commission on than the reps in the hotel did.

Was picked up from the hotel at 8am in a comfortable if slightly old truck (better than most on DR) and taken to the dive center where Chi Chi the instructor went through the usual pre dive stuff. Was really pleased to see that he was very careful in checking experience and recent history, actually seemed to care for divers welfare. He then went through all the possibilities for what could be done- and the range is actually very good. Even to the extent that if you are an advanced diver they can offer a cave dive. Next came the equipment - all sparkling brand new. You arent going to get integrated weight jackets, but what they have is excellent.

First dive the girlfriend had a bit of a moment, the response from Chi Chi was excellent. Couldnt ask for more.

All drinks included and at the lowest price I was offered from 4 different dive centers in the area.
