The Guanica Dry reserve is fairly easy to get to, although the road has a lot of switchbacks and is very narrow but in good repair. The gates close on Sundays, but a lot of cars park outside during those times. The trails are in good shape. The cactus plants are tall, lanky, and full of thorns. There are a lot of butterflies in several of the areas. The forest is pleasant to walk through and has a lot of birds. There was a nice breeze off the sea that keeps it pretty comfortable. There are no facilites so bring what you need. The beach is phenomenal: white sand, fairly wide, several shaded spots and a large reef just off shore. It looks like there would be a lot of interesting coral.
