Since it’s always summer in Puerto Rico, San Juan offers visitors the opportunity to participate in every warm-weather outdoor activity imaginable.
Watersports at Isla Verde: Isla Verde is actually a network of interconnected beaches that stretches for miles in front of San Juan's resorts and private residences. Its sandy shores are ideal for a game of volleyball or Frisbee, and also for relaxing under the shade of palm trees. Many neighboring hotels offer opportunities to sail, windsurf, scuba dive, and kayak. Information and directions can be found
here.
Tennis in Central Park: At the very center of San Juan, Central Park has over a dozen tennis courts available to use for a small fee. The courts open at 8 AM and close at 10 PM, so tennis players can look forward to early-morning or late-night games.

Horse-racing at El Comandante: For those who want to watch sports instead of participating in them, this racetrack (the only one in Puerto Rico) is well worth the half hour drive out of the center of San Juan. Pay $3 to sit inside the clubhouse, or sit in bleacher seats at no cost. Call (787) 724-6060 for details.
Fishing in San Juan Harbor: Mahi mahi, marlin, yellowfin and wahoo are just some of what one can expect to reel in from off the San Juan coast. Professionals seeking to catch that prize-winning fish should visit during the winter, which is the prime season for fishing and when most of the competitions take place. Amateurs need not plan their visits around the season, because fishing is good year round. For information and reservations, click
