If you’ve seen Pirates of the Caribbean, you probably know that rum is the preferred drink of the Islands. Rum punches and cocktails, especially the famous “Pain Killer” and “Bushwacker,” can be found at almost every bar, and there are plenty of them on the major tourist islands. Many of them also feature live music.

Tortola probably has the largest number of nightclubs and bars of any of the islands. There is Sebastian’s Grill in Apple Bay, which features live music and a full bar that is particularly noted for its Sebastian’s Rum. There is also the Jolly Roger Inn in Soper’s Hole, which serves Caribbean barbeque and hosts guest bands from the United States on weekends. Also try Bomba’s Shack, the best-known nightclub in the Islands. The place throws a wild Full Moon Party every month with excellent rum punch and good live entertainment. Bing’s Drop Inn Bar also has good dancing, while Clem’s by the Sea features local bands on Monday nights.

The best place to enjoy an evening out on Jost Van Dyke is Foxy’s Bar, which is famous for its partying on New Year’s Eve (known as Old Year’s Night to the locals). There is also the Soggy Dollar Bar at White Bay, which invented the “Pain Killer” cocktail. If you’re on Virgin Gorda, try the Bitter End Yacht Club in North Sound or Pusser’s Leverick Bay.
