Freeport is only 55 miles east of Miami and it is easily accessible by airplane, cruise ship, or boat.
The Grand Bahama International Airport is located on the northern outskirts of the city but it offers no public bus service. Fortunately there are other options: most hotels offer free transfers to and from the airport. You can also take a taxi or rent a car. A taxi from the airport will usually cost about $20. There are also several car rental agencies that have desks inside the terminal.
There are two terminals at the airport. One for international departures and arrivals from the U.S. and another for domestic and non-U.S. internatinoal departures. At night, the U.S. terminal closes and U.S. departures on late flights leave from the domestic terminal. Be sure to know where you are going before you leave for the airport.
You can reach Freeport by cruise ship or other boat. There are five full service marinas in Freeport/Lucaya. Dock rates are approximately $1.50 per foot, per day. There are electricity and fresh water hook ups, bathrooms, and laundry.
