The best way for families to take advantage of experiencing the beautiful nature of the area is to head to the Heritage River Trails .  These trails pass through approximately eleven kilometers (seven miles) of beautiful scenery, including the Nechako River, and they also go through numerous historic sights which allow families to educate themselves about the area's nature and history.

The starting and ending point of the Heritage River Trails is Fort George Park which is a place which families will enjoy.  The Exploration Place  museum and science centre located on the grounds which will keep kids entertained with interactive exhibits.  There is also a First Nations burial ground which children with an interest in Native history may find interesting.  For those who are more interested in the future than the past, there is a SimEx motion theatre and an internet café in Fort George Park.  In other words, there is something for everyone in the family at this location.
