HSBC City of Bhangra Festival

VIBC will host its ninth annual City of Bhangra Festival from May 30 to June 8 and welcomes back HSBC Bank Canada as the title sponsor of the festival for the second time. The HSBC City of Bhangra Festival is set to be one of the biggest must-see spring events in Metro Vancouver. This year’s festival line-up includes various independent events, hundreds of performers, and international artists from the UK, U.S. and India. Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival

Celebrating 25 years of bringing Shakespeare to life in Vancouver, Bard on the Beach Shakespeare Festival runs June 11 to September 20, 2014. This year sees the return of two audience favourites: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, directed by Dean Paul Gibson and The Tempest, staged by Meg Roe. Presented on the BMO Mainstage, they will be re-imaginings of Gibson and Roe’s hugely successful 2006 and 2008 productions and. On the Howard Family Stage, Bard presents a bold adaptation of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline, directed by Anita Rochon and Equivocation, written by contemporary playwright Bill Cain and directed by Michael Shamata. Honda Celebration of Light Fireworks Competition

The Honda Celebration of Light is Vancouver's annual international fireworks competition and brings together talented pyro-technicians from three countries. These teams light up the sky over Vancouver's downtown core and English Bay with an amazing show choreographed to music. These incredible displays draw crowds of more than 1.5 million people over the four-night celebration. Be sure to get to the beach early to reserve your plot of sand, pull up a blanket and enjoy a picnic dinner during this free show. Best viewing locations are at English Bay, Kitsilano Beach, Vanier Park, Jericho Beach and West Vancouver.
