Vancouver Island is full of festivals all year round. One thing that the locals are really interested in and visitors love to partake in are farmer's markets which, depending on all the different crops of each season, can take place all year round. Make sure to ask while you are there about any markets that may be taking place and stock up on the amazing food and local delights!

This island is known for is proximity to killer whales. The natives celebrate the majestic creatures with the Pacific Rim Whale  Festival which takes place in the towns of Ucluelet and Tofino in March, when migrating whales pass through the area. This should not be confused with the very similarly-named Pacific Rim Summer Festival,  which is held in Ucluelet and Tofino during the first half of the month of July. The summer festival includes many concerts and a celebration of multiculturalism as well.

Tourists always love a jazz festival; the Vancouver Island Jazz & Blues Fest also takes place in July.

Foodies will prefer the Cowichan Wine and Culinary Festival in the town of Duncan. The delicious celebration takes place late September through early October.

Don't forget you can always celebrate Canada Day too on June 24th!
