Whistler is a great place to visit for families with children of all ages. There are activities that can be enjoyed by the whole family together, and there are also programs in which children can participate without their parents.

Most of the hotels in Whistler are very kid-friendly, and there are several options on room set-up. For example, if it’s preferable to obtain a suite in a hotel so that the children can sleep in their own room/area, those accommodations are certainly available.

During the winter, many parents decide to enroll their children in a ski school. Group lessons and private lessons are available, and enrolling kids in ski lessons provides parents and/or caretakers the freedom to ski alone for several hours. The instructors who are in charge of the ski lessons are trained especially to teach children. So they have great personalities, they’re friendly, and they’re enthusiastic about teaching kids how to ski. The only known issue with group ski lessons in Whistler is that they fill up quickly, and sometimes it’s impossible to get kids enrolled if reservations are not made in advance.

Make sure you and the kids check out the t ube park.  Access via a lift from Whistler Mountain, spend a couple hours riding one of six to eight different sliding lanes 1,000 feet in length.  A moving carpet style lift will bring you to the top of the run. The runs will vary in difficulty from Green to Blue to Black.

Dog sledding and Horsed drawn Sleighrides are great for a family.  For an evening dinner activity, try a sleighride taround Green Lake which finishes off with a fondue dinner at Nicklaus North Golf and Country Club.

Other fun activities to do as a family are snowshoeing, rock climbing (depending on the age of the children), and shopping!

During the summer, there are even more activities that are well-suited for families. Some ideas are: a game of miniature golf, hiking, biking, jet boating and whitewater rafting (depending on the age).  Visit the Blackcomb Adventure Zone with mini golf, trampoline, luge rides, balloon slides etc.  To enjoy the alpines, take a 30 minute gondola ride to up to the peak of Whistler Mountain where you can enjoy fabulous views and even stop into the Rounhouse Lodge for lunch or snack.
