Travelers will find that it is easy to enjoy sports and active pursuits in Moncton and the surrounding area.  Moncton itself provides some local spectator sport entertainment as well as some leisure participant sports such as golf.  The surrounding area is better for more active outdoor pursuits, with nearby Fundy Park and Hopewell City being top picks for day trips taken to enjoy the natural environment.

Fundy Park is located approximately an hour west of Moncton.  Hopewell is in the same direction but not quite as far away.  Fundy Park is best for hiking.  Two of the favored trails there are Devil’s Half Acre Trail and Dickson Falls trail.  The former is an hour-long moderate-level hike with views of the coast.  The latter is shorter but offers little in the way of views until the pinnacle of the hike which is the waterfall.  Hopewell offers more active pursuits, which include horseback riding opportunities.  These are generally guided tours given in two, four or six hour stretches.  Hopewell also includes Hopewell Bay where travelers can enjoy kayaking and other on-the-water activities.

In terms of spectator sports, Moncton is known for curling, figure skating, hockey, and track.   As far as leisure sports in Moncton , golf is the way to go.   There are at least seven different eighteen-hole golf courses in the area.   See the Go Moncton golf course list for details.
