The Irving Nature Park is a place that shouldn't be missed. Many activities can be done here from picnics, hikes, short walks, jogging, hanging out, barbecues, feeding the chickadees, sitting on the beach, or taking pictures.

Advice for hiking the park:

  • When entering the park you can choose to go right or left (the park is a circle, so you really can't get lost). If you choose to walk left, depending on time of year or time of day, you may want to dress warmer. The wind and fog comes right off the ocean and makes this walk a bit cooler.
  • It is always a good idea to bring something for the chickadees too, but make sure that it is unsalted. They will land on your hand even if you are not completely still,  young children seem to love this part of their walk. The chickadees are also there all year round.
  • there are directions on signs not to feed the squirrels for a reason. They can get pretty brave and even climb up your leg, they aren't always as friendly or cute as they look.
  • When walking the trails watch for porcupines and watch your step. Bikes are not premited on the trails, but the dirt road that circles the park is still a nice bike ride.
