Cottonwood Public Market is a short walk from Nelson's historic downtown and runs every Saturday from May through October. The Market features 20 to 60 vendors selling everything from fresh local produce to artisan breads to hand-dyed yarn. The market is run by the local environmental non-profit to benefit local farmers and craftspeople. Nestled at the foot of Cottonwood Falls Park, the market was named one of Canada's best farmers markets in 2012 by Chatelaine Magazine. The market's reputation as a counter-culture oasis is complemented by the family-friendly atmosphere and live music.

Things to note:

  • Live music happens from 10-2 pm
  • There is no ATM on site, so bring plenty of cash
  • Parking in the lot is extremely limited, but can be found in the surrounding  neighbourhood
  • Dogs are allowed at the market on leash
