Strawberry Fair is a one day event of music and stalls inspired 30 years ago as an alternative to the university May Week events (in the beginning of June). Located on Midsommer Common it is an easy walk from the city. Attractions include music, food, arts and craft stalls. As an "alternative" event, be prepared for a focus on organic food, healing areas, tarot readings, massage, natural remedies and alternative culture. It is bright, happy, family friendly (at least in the day time) and of course, free. See their website http://www.strawberry-fair.org.uk/.
Guy Fawkes night is a british tradition which sees a huge bonfire lit on the 5th of November, which is in Midsommer Common in Cambridge and is followed by fireworks. There are rides and food stalls and lots of other entertainment to help celebrate the event. The event is free but donations are welcomed to help keep it going. Wear comfortable shoes and warm clothing and bring some sort of wet weather gear just in case. See the tourist information site before you go http://www.visitcambridge.org/festiva...
