Rye's climate, owing to its position on England's southeast coast, is one of England's warmest and sunniest. Sea breezes keep clouds out of the sky, allowing the sun to shine forth. Because of the presence of the sea, there can be marked differences between daytime and nighttime temperatures, as much as 10 degrees Celsius. On average, the warmest month is August, when the average daytime temperature hovers around 20 degrees Celsius (70 F). Highs can climb up to 25 degrees C (80 F), but can fall below 15 degrees C (60 F) during the night.

During the coldest months (Dec through Feb) average temperatures are between 5 and 10 degrees C (40 and 50 F), but temperatures can fall below freezing.

Rye usually Receives about 800 mm (31 in.) of rain per year, on par with England's legendary amounts of rainfall. The wettest months are usually from October through January, but rainfall is pretty evenly distributed throughout the year.
