Merton Vintage Show, at Merton Farm, is 3 day event over the May Day Bank Holiday featuring vintage transport and lots more 3-5 May 2014
Sounds New Contemporary Music Festival held over 2 weeks. 2-9 May 2014
Open Gardens at Canterbury Cathedral is a rare chance to see private gardens in the cathedral precincts that are not usually open to the public. Held over the last weekend in May or first weekend in June. 24-25 May 2014
Lounge On The Farm is an alternative pop/rock music festival held over 3 days at Merton Farm in July. It is growing in popularity year-on-year and some famous names have played. A free shuttle bus is provided from the city centre to the site.
Charity Duck Race A plastic duck race held annually on the river Stour in the Westgate Gardens to raise money for charity.
CAMRA Kent Beer Festival is held over 3 days in July at Merton Farm on the outskirts of the city. It's a great opportunity to try unsual real ales and ciders. There is a free shuttle bus from the bus station. 17-19 July 2014
Whitstable Oyster Festival is held in the last week of July in this nearby seaside town, and is a very popular event showcasing the town's traditions, heritage and seafood. 26 July - 1 Aug 2014
Broadstairs Folk Week attracts thousands of folk-music fans and beer lovers to this seaside town which is easily reached by train from Canterbury. 8-15 Aug 2014
Canterbury Cricket Week is the highlight of the cricket season for fans of Kent County Cricket Club at the St Lawrence Ground. 13-20 Aug 2014
Herne Bay Festival has been held during a week of late August in this nearby seaside town since 1993. Many family oriented events such as open-air musical concerts, fireworks displays, carnival, talent competitions, children’s workshops plus a funfair in the town park.SEPTEMBER:
Faversham International Hop Festival attracts thousands of people to the nearby market town of Faversham to celebrate the hop harvest with lots of good beer and music. First weekend in September.
Hop Hoodening Annual morris dancing service & procession in the cathedral precincts to celebrate the hop harvest. 2nd Saturday of September. 13 Sept 2014
Heritage Open Days in September give people the chance to visit interesting buildings not usually open to the public. 11-14 Sept 2014
Canterbury Food & Drink Festival (formerly known as Eurofair): A wealth of fine food and delicious drink in the Dane John Gardens in the heart of Canterbury. Follow food trails through the city, taking in some of the gastronomic delights on offer throughout the whole year in Canterbury. Look out for city centre restaurants and retailers joining in with special festival events. Admission free. Last weekend in Sept.
Canterbury Anifest Annual animation festival with talks, workshops, film screenings and awards ceremony.
Canterbury Oktoberfest German-style beer festival at Canterbury Rugby Club, with a free shuttle bus to the venue.
The Canterbury Festival Kent’s largest international multi-arts festival, held annually during the last fortnight in October. Features film screenings, theatrical performances, musical concerts, comedy and more. A parade launches the festival. 18 Oct - 1 Nov 2014
Tyler Hill Bonfire is one of the area's biggest public bonfire & fireworks display to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night. Parking is provided at the University of Kent from where it is a short walk to the village's recreation ground. Nearest Saturday to 5th November.

Fireworks on the Farm display at Merton Farm, south of the city, nearest Saturday to 5th November.
Remembrance Sunday is held at the war memorial in The Buttermarket on the Sunday nearest to 11 Nov.
Whitefriars Christmas Market - a small German-style market in wooden chalets runs for a month from mid-Nov up to Christmas.
The St Nicholas Festival is on the first Saturday of December with a parade and other family events. 6 Dec 2014
Lord Mayor's Charity Carol Service is held in Rose Square in the Whitefriars shopping precinct at 6pm. Christmas Eve 24 Dec.
