Perhaps unpredicatable, usually mild but sometimes wet especially in winter would be a fair description. As for much of the west of Britain, the weather is dominated by the western Atlantic. Hawkshead however enjoys a sheltered position, nestling in Esthwaite Vale which protects it from the strongest westerly winds.
In such beautiful surrounding it is a pleasure to visit at any time of the year; each season brings its own special mood and atmosphere and the more you visit the more you will connect with the rhythms of the seasons.
Winter can be cold and damp, but can also bring some exceptionally beautiful days with cold, crisp air and clear blue skies giving unrivalled clarity to the views of the surrounding lakes and mountains. And on the damp days, well you can still enjoy a walk or visit the shops before settling down in front of a log fire in one of the local pubs.
Spring is for many a favourite time, heralded by snowdrops if February and followed by drifts of daffodils through March and April before the trees burst into life in May.
In summer you can enjoy the long summer evenings; by Midsummer it is light until 11pm and on a warm evening on of lifes great pleasures is to sit outside until the sun goes down.
Autumn brings golden leaves, the fall, "autumn tints" as the surrounding forests turn a blaze of red, gold, green.
