“The nightlife is great in Liverpool” says one TripAdvisor Member. And what makes it so great? Here are just a few of the reasons.
The Grapes was a favorite hang-out for the Beatles and many other rock bands. “When we went to Liverpool for the second time in 6 months we returned to The Grapes when the traipsing round the many Beatles' haunts tired our aching feet,” says one TripAdvisor Member. “And it was like a return to my beloved sixties. The clientele were just as you imagine Liverpudlians to be: warm & welcoming. And Jim the guv'nor was even better! The pub looks as if it hasn't changed since that superlative decade ruled & it's one of the few pubs like that! If you're in Liverpool & want a comfortable & enjoyable place . . . Grapes is the place to be.”
The Philharmonic Pub, known as “the Phil” to locals, is a grand pub with “Pacem amo” (“I love peace”) as its motto. The horse-shoe shaped bar is nice, the chandeliers are elegant, and the loo is incredible. The toilets? Yes! The Phil’s rest rooms have been voted “the best public toilets in Britain” for several years.
Other night-owl-options include the award winning Laughterhouse Comedy Club, offering up great comedy every weekend at the exclusive Baby Blue Club; The Cavern Club, where the Beatles made their start; Baa Baa, a trendy club, which makes its hip home in a converted warehouse; Cream is a stylish nightclub where you can dance the night away in the Cavern Quarter; Jacaranda Club was once owned by the Beatles’ first manager, Allan Williams, and is the place where the Fab Four used to play, rehearse and hang out.
