Every night from outside the Evil Eye at 7.30 or wait unde Ye-Olde Starre Inn sighn over the street in Stonegate for the guide to appear. A truly professional walk established in 1980. This walk cuts above many of the other walks due to its diversity and originality in terms of theatrical costuming and storytelling. Tour operates 7 days a week and can be booked by groups.
The Ghost Trail of York - Every night at 7.30pm from the West Doors of the Minster. Led by Equity Qualified guides and great for families, kids and big kids alike. This is a good one for those of a nervous disposition, as in high season, you could easily be in a group of 100 or more people
The Original Ghost Walk of York - Every night at 8pm from The Kings Arms, just by Ouse Bridge: latecomers can joing in at 8.30pm by Clifford Tower steps. This is a classic example of good honest storytelling at its best, and their guides are City, County (BTA Blue Badge) or Equity Qualified. Started in 1973, hence the "original".
The Haunted Walk - Every night at 8pm from the City Art Gallery, Exhibition Square (just opposite the Tourist Information Office). A family- run operation which delivers not only the most well known ghost stories, but also personal experiences of the guides themselves, family members and previous ghost-hunters.
The Ghost Hunt of York - Every night at 7.30pm from the Shambles. Another more theatrical walk, great for children as the guides are dressed up in top hat and dark coat. This one is also popular so expect large groups.
The Ghost Detective - Every night (July- Halloween, weekends Nov- June) at 7.30pm from Jorvik Viking Centre, Coppergate. Equity member with an award for stand-up comedy.
The Ghost Tour - Saturday nights at 8pm from Kings Square at the top of Shambles. Again, its a great walk with a scary looking guide. This one tends to have slightly smaller groups, possibly because it's only once a week.
Ancient Ghost Walks of York/D*ck Turpin Tours - booked walks from pre-arranged starting points. A great walk with good story tellers exploring the horrifying and amusing stories which have left behind their ghostly presence.
