There is a huge range of activities to choose from when in Swansea. Given its location on the water, sailing, boating, and yachting are all possibilities. While Wales might not be the first destination that pops in your head when you think of surfing, the Gower Peninsula actually is quite well known for its waves. If you aren't a seasoned wave-catcher, a number of outfitters offer lessons for first-timers.

Other outdoor activities that abound in the Swansea area include fishing, golfing, horseback riding and cycling. Swansea is located on the Celtic Trail cycle route, a 377 mile route which transverses southwest Wales from Newport to Fishguard. If you're idea of good fun is getting muddy on the mountain trails, then head to Afan Forest Park, a premier mountain biking destination.

Alternatively you could take a birds eye view of Swansea and get the adrenaline pumping with a tandem skydive with Skydive Swansea or maybe just take to the skies with a flying lesson at Swansea Airport.
