Aviemore is a great town for tourists with a few bars and cafes loads of activites to do and wonderful scenery.  Located in the heart ofScotland you really get the feel for Scottish Highland hospitality.  Accommodation in the area is plentiful.

Many people enjoy white water rafting on the River Findhorn.

There is a local microbrewery that does tours.  The Caringorm brewery is on the edge of the village.  They give a nice tour and plenty of samples.

It is easy to tour some of the best whiskey distilleries from Aviemore.  The easiest to get to without a car is Dalwhinie.  Take the bus or train and then walk down to the distillery.  They have a nice shop and go a great  tour.  This is one of the best single malts in the area.

Another great thing to do is to take the funicular up the Caringorm Mt.  It is the only place in Britan with an alpine ecology.  The visitor center at the top of the mountain is very nice and there is also a good restaurant and snack shop.
