Perhaps the most famous annual festival in Dublin is its Saint Patrick's Day Parade on March 17th each year. This forms the centre-piece of a week of celebration of what it means to be Irish.

Other traditions in the city include the annual Liffey Swim each September, when hundreds of lunatics brave the waters of the Liffey.

Then there's the Liffey descent,  when Irish canoeists take the healthier option for getting downstream.

Each September Croke Park plays host to the All Ireland Gaelic Football and Hurling finals, easily the most coveted ticket in the country.

What's On In Dublin lists events on the City of Dublin website.

There is also the The Temple Bar Trad festival occuring in January, the Literary Pub Crawl, and some other suggestions on the Sports & Activities page. lists a full range of Dublin Events and Dublin Festivals.
