Seamus , the man who owns/runs the Folk Museum is always delighted to greet visitors. It has a huge collection of cool stuff from the last century. Anyone reared in Ireland or reared by Irish people will find loads of good stuff. There is a lot of old books, hurling programmes, hurls signed by famous players, an old pub set up and lots of old farm machinery. The best thing is the way it is all set out and the charm of the whole place.
It is its very nature that is a delight. Go there first. It is the most genuine display by someone who loves every item in his vast collection.
In the village of Bennettsbridge, eight kilometres out of Kilkenny, veer right pass the mill before crossing the bridge. Then take the sharp right up a steep hill. The museum is at the top of the hill on the right, behind an ordinary looking house.
If it is closed, just knock on the door of the house and Seamus will come out and open it for you.
