By plane: Travelers can reach Sligo via the Sligo Airport ( http://www.sligoairport.com/) which travels between Sligo and Dublin. Travelers coming from all over can fly first in to the Dublin airport and then catch a commuter flight from there to Sligo.
Upon arrival: The Sligo Airport is located approximately five miles outside of the city itself. Travelers can rent a car there from Avis ( www.avis.com) for travel to the city. Alternatively, travelers can opt to take the local bus or to hire a taxi in order to reach their hotel destination.
By car: Visitors who do fly in to Dublin and spend time there before heading to Sligo may find that, rather than flying to Sligo, they prefer to rent a car in Dublin and make the scenic drive to Sligo. The highway between the two areas is the N4 highway. Travelers coming from other parts of Ireland may travel on the N15, N16 or N17 highways.
Other ground transportation: Travelers can also reach Sligo by train or by bus. The train servicing the area is the Irish Rail ( www.irishrail.ie ) and the Bus is the Eireann ( www.buseireann.ie ). Both travel in to the area through Dublin , although the bus also comes in from various other locations throughout Ireland .
