Travelers may enjoy Strasbourg at any time of the year, as the seasonal climate is considered comfortable at all times (see for more information) and travelers will generally find that local festivities of different sorts can also be enjoyed all throughout the year.  The major cultural events in the area are related to music and theater performances, with schedules beginning in October and running through May.

Summer travelers will find that June is the month for classical music, with the International Music Festival being the biggest of the June events.  July and August are a hodgepodge of events, including weekly poetry readings, choral performances and musical concerts.  Throughout the summer, travelers can enjoy festivities related to Voix Romane ( which celebrates the shared French and German history of the area.  The summer culminates with the Festival of Contemporary Music held in September of each year at the Palais de la Musique et des Congres.  Jazz fans will want to delay their Strasbourg trip until November when the city’s Jazz d’Or festival takes place.

One of the best times to visit Strasbourg is during the annual Christmas Markets that usually is open from November 30 through December 31.. This is one of the best of the European Christmas Markets. There are several locations in the central core of the city. It is most enjoyable to walk around enjoying the food, crafts, and the decorations of the season.
