Blois is not a good town for cycling, the roads are too steep. However, take the road by Eurodif (a shop by the traffic lights on rue Denis Papin) in the pedestrian precinct and walk uphill on rue des juifs, rue des papaegaults to the cathedral. There are some fascinating medieval doors. Circle behind the cathedral to the town hall and the jardin de l'éveché, a tiered rose garden. You can get exceptional views of the Loire from here. If you happen to be in Blois in May or June, don't miss this sensorial experience. All the roses are in bloom and they smell wonderful.
Another good place to wander around is place des catalpas. There is a medicinal garden and you really get the feel of what it would have been like in the time of the French renaissance. You can eat and have a drink there.
