For a historic, quiet city that gives visitors a taste of “old France”, Rouen certainly has its share of happening nightlife to offer up as well.

To be sure, however, in true French fashion, one of the most popular nighttime activities is finding a café with a sidewalk presence and sipping wine or beer while watching people go by, and being seen yourself as you strike a pose.

If you want more hoppin’ activity at night, consider one of the many clubs around historic Rouen. Like disco? You can dance the night away at l’lbiza, located at 29 bd. Des Belges. This place appeals to a slightly more mature crowd (say, 20 to 45 or so), than Le Kiosk, (43 bd. de Verdun) where a younger crowd (20-somethings) rules.

If the pub scene is calling your name, there are a number on place du Vieux-Marche. At any number of pubs, you can mingle with a wide variety of people, with a variety of ages (though generally ages will be roughly 20 to 45 or so) and enjoy a good brew. There are also wine bars here, of course, where you can enjoy some fine French wines.
