Frankfurt has a very efficient and sensible layout, and because of this it is very easy to find your way around the city. If you want to use the train system, you can buy tickets virtually anywhere in the city. There will be some small boutiques where you can purchase tickets ahead of time, a sales outlet at the train station, card-o-mat machines, or online. Prices for the trains vary, but they are pretty inexpensive. The train system in Frankfurt is easy to use and very safe. If you are taking a bus, you can buy the tickets at the same locations as the trains, but you also have the option of buying the ticket last minute on the bus itself. Train and bus travel to locations outside of the city is slightly different. Sometimes you will have to purchase the tickets in advance, and you might not be able to get tickets the day of. It all depends on availability and the volume of business. You will also be able to use taxis while you are in the city. The cab drivers often know the best routes of where to go, but if you don't speak German it can be very difficult to get around.
