Tips for booking a train ticket on line (TIKNET)

On the Spanish version, it says: NOMBRE then APELLIDO 1 then APPELIDO 2 and on the English version it is: NAME the FIRST NAME then SECOND NAME.  This can be very confusing indeed!  Clearly another case of the web designer not having considered the English meanings.

In Spain, most people use two surnames, or APELLIDOS; the first is their father's first family name.  So for example if JUAN GARCIA LOPEZ married CARMEN PEREZ RODRIGUEZ, their children's surname would be GARCIA PEREZ.  Married women retain their own surname(s) and sometimes add their husband's first surname to theirs. So on the English version use your name in the normal order. And SECOND NAME is your SURNAME.  NOMBRE is your FIRST NAME sometimes called Christian name.  Presumably when you go to the ticket office at Seville station and present your TIKNET booking identification, they check your name and ID number against the Passport and then make sure your Credit Card is valid before issuing the tickets for the first time you make a booking.

The Post Code in Spain is numerical. So for example for Seville, the Post Code could be 41001. In UK the Post Code contains letters and numbers. So the TIKNET system will only accept a Spanish type of Post Code.  If you don't have a Post Code, you could try any number.
