People generally arrive on the island on Minorca, where Ciudadela is located, in one of two ways:  by air or by sea.

If traveling by air visitors will arrive at the island's Aeropuerto de Menorca  (MAH).  This airport is fairly small, but for the island's size it handles a large number of flights, over 2 million per year, 90% of which arrive and depart during the summer months.  The airport, located about 4 km. outside of the island's main town, Mahon, serves a small number of Spanish and other European carriers, including several British ones which offer regular service.

Ground transportation from the airport to Ciudadela is available by taxi, bus, or rental car.  Some hotels also offer private shuttle services.

Visitors who wish to travel to Minorca by boat can do so with a number of companies. AngloInfo and  Balearia, a larger ferry company, offers water transport from several cities in mainland Spain.  See their website for details.
