Before midnight:
Frigata - located right on the harbourside, popular with visitors up to about midnight when locals start to arrive and always packed during any fiestas. Friendly, nice atmosphere.
Molly Malones- Irish bar on same street as the tourist office, with live entertainment provided by Des, the bar owner. Usually busy, generally slightly older clientele.
Color Cafe - upstairs in El Rincon in the main Plaza Charco. Stylish cocktail bar with great music, windowseats overlooking the Plaza or on traditional Canarian balcony overlooking courtyard. Gets busier after midnight and at weekends.
Elements - small trendy cocktail bar on Calle de Mequinez in the Ranilla district, popular with young Germans and Canarians.
After midnight:
Limbo - over the Cha' Paula restaurant on Calle Blanco, access is via the restaurant's traditional Canarian courtyard. Series of individually styled rooms for chill out but head outside to busy large courtyard and bar area popular with young Canarians. Music loud, up tempo and often UK or US.
Azucar - Cuban bar upstairs on corner of Calle Blanco and Calle Iriarte. Loud Latin American Salsa music, four rooms packed beyond capacity at weekends. Live music occasionally on Thursdays. DJ Friday, Saturday. Go to watch the fantastic dancing and drink mojitos.
El Teatro - on Calle Puerto Viejo, just past the pink bar. Live music, art exhibitions and theatre performances, sometimes pay on door (€10ish). Bohemian and new.
