Puerto de la Cruz is a great place to go if you want to get away from it all for a few days and just relax. With that being said, if you have a young family that is interested in theme parks and amusements, this might not be the place to go. There are no giant theme parks or roller coasters, and generally the type of crowds that visit the city are a little older. Still, there are things to do with a family if you do choose to visit, including the world famous Loro Parque, a free road train takes you from the centre of town. Everyone loves to go to the beach in Puerto de la Cruz. The relaxing ocean waves keep tourists on the sand all day. You can go snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing or fishing while you are here, with good shower facilities and a buffet restaurent. Those are some great activities to do with a family that can draw you closer. While on the island you also need to take in the beauty. Because of all the rainfall, the island is extremely lush and green. You can take hikes outside of the city or go camping if you wish to do so. There are a lot of outdoor gardens and some indoor exhibits which feature the wildlife. There are also zoos and arboretums to visit.
