There are a lot of fun things to do during the day in Puerto de la Cruz. Most of the things worth doing are in the outdoors, and you can enjoy the weather and the scenery. A lot of people like to just hang out down by the water and relax, but you can also head inland to do some things.

One of the most popular things to do on the island is go to Loro Parque, the Parrot Park. This park is in Punta Brava near the Playa Jardin beach. You can either walk to the park, take a car or taxi, or use the easiest method, which is a free mini train. The train leaves from Avenida de Colon. The price of the park is pretty expensive--about 29 euro for adults and children over 12, and about 18 euros for children under 12.  There are fantastic shows, expecially the Orca show, the Dolphin show, and the sea lion show. These are at set times druring the day, you get a map and details on arrival. You can stroll the grounds and look at all the birds and other animals in the park throughout the day. This is always fun with children.

There are street entertainers on the main streets leading to old pretty squares, they will dance and sing and have photos taken of them for a small amount of change in their hat.

Another fun thing to do is go to Bananera El Guanche, the Banana Plantation. The entrance fee is only 6 euro, and you can also take a free mini train from Avenida de Colon. There are many exotic flowers, vegetation, and other things to witness at the plantation. You can take a guided tour or just walk around yourself. Puerto de la Cruz also has a nice Botanical Garden, El Jardin de Alclimatacion de la Orotava. This costs 3 Euros.
