Casa Botines House

Casa Botines was constructed in 1891 and finished in 1893 by Antonio Gaudi for the fabric merchants of Leon, one who was named Botinas and who gave name to the building. The building is a Modernist building with a Medieval look, which is very unique, with a stylized tower at each end of the building. It was built as a textile warehouse. The ground floor was used for business, while the upper floors were used for residences. In 1969 the building was declared a Historic Monument, and today it houses the social headquarters of the Caja España Bank, with cultural exhibitions on the ground floor. This is one of only three buildings that Gaudi built outside Catalonia.
