San Bartolome and Santa Tecla Church

San Bartolome and Santa Tecla Church is located at Plaça de l'Ajuntament, 20. The church was constructed in the 17th century and has an asymmetric appearance, standing on a hill overlooking the beach, and is one of the most iconic images of Sitges. The style of the church is Baroque, with three naves and a vaulted ceiling. The church was constructed over an older Romanesque church and a Gothic church from 1322. The construction of the church started in 1665 and was finished in 1672. There is a bell tower with a clock. In 1854 the Chapel of El Santisimo was constructed and in 1868 the second bell tower was remodeled with an octagonal plan.

There is a retable with images of San Bartolome and Santa Tecla, a work of Nicolas de Credença from Naples. This is a Renaissance retable from 1499. Below the choir are two Gothic sepulchers from 1317 and 1322 that contain the remains of Bernardo de Fonollar, Galceran de Ribes and Galcerán de Pacs. The baptistery is dedicated to the Virgin of Montserrat and has paintings by Pere Pruna. Darius Vilas painted modern paintings in the Chapels of Ecce Homo and El Santisimo in the 19th century.
